Early morning route from Espoo to Helsinki

Riding a bike in Helsinki metropolitan area
Biking in Helsinki metropolitan area is like attending Tour de France daily.
Bikes are almost of the same kind. The speed is nearly as much, and most people riding a bike here are dressed like the guys in the Tour de France.
If you want to enjoy the beautiful
seeside or just spend a sunny day biking, be very carefull. Finns
tend to take everything seriously and biking is not an exception.
Especially men in their 30´s -40´s are keen on making a new ”Tour
de Helsinki” -record. Forget about getting a better physical
condition or biking as an enviromental friendly alternative. This is
a question of life and death, time to show the other guys in the company that you are not a sissy. ”Today xxx km in xxx minutes
...”.And of course you train for the marathon too, but that is another story.
I guess this almost violent biking culture
depends also partly on the landscape profile and the distances here. Your destination
will probably be quite far away. That doesn´t exactly make biking a
thing to do in high heels and partyclothes.
But I still wish, that we would have a
biking culture without killerbikes, top equipments and expensive sporting
clothes, but a kind of slow biking with civilized clothes, high heels,
if you so wish, and bikes that are not necessarily so high-tech and
sporty.
Maybe I have to move to Holland or maybe Hanko would do.
